: The New Zealand Crippled I Children Society has ii launched an appeal for $llO,OOO to build holiday > homes for crippled children, • and their families. > The four homes would be • built in Rotorua, the presi- • dent of the society (Mr J. E. > C-reenslade) said yesterday. The two-bedroom units! ■ will be designed for children ■ in wheelchairs, on crutches. I, or suffering from other physical handicaps. A thermal swimming pool > will be an important feature. ; “Many who cannot walk, or move round on land without ■ great difficutly, find enjoy- ■ ment, and freedom of rnovei ment, in water,” Mr Green- • slade said. The holiday homes will be available to families from anywhere in New Zealand.
Road toll 458.— To noon : yesterday, 458 traffic deaths . this year had been reported ■ to the Ministry of Transport ■ : At the corresponding time I last year, the total was 497. ■ The toll this month was 31, compared with 34 at the! 7 :same time last September. — (P.A.)
