More cattle slaughtered

Adult cattle and lamb - slaughterings have increased ■ significantly this season, ; according to the latest fig- - ures from the Ministry of ■ Agriculture’s Economics Dij vision. From October 1, 1974 to ; August 24 this year, the ’ adult cattle kill at meatexport establishments, and abattoirs, increased by 20.6 per cent to 2.025 million head, compared to the same period last season. For the same period, the lamb kill increased by 2.489 million, or 10.9 per cent more than last season, to 25.319 million head. However, total sheep ) slaughterings between Octo- . ber 1, 1974 and August 24, t 1975, fell by 19.6 per cent to i 6.849 million head compared , to the same period the pre- - vious season.
The pig kill has also dropped. It declined by 4 per cent to 651,546 head for this period.
