Mr A. R. Guthrey has assumed the position of chairman of directors of the Guthrey group of companies, resulting in the foilowing appointments at director level in the group’s two major trading companies. Mr D. W. Meldrum has been appointed managing director, and Mr E. T. Livingstone has been appointed executive director and company secretary of A. R. Guthrey Travel and Shipping, Ltd, and Guthreys New Zealand Tours, Ltd.

Mr P. C. Guthrey becomes a director and general manager of A. R. Guthrey Travel and Shipping, and an executive director of the Tours company.

Mr B. J. Doody becomes a director and general manager of Guthreys New Zealand Tours, while Mr A. C. Nettleton, shipping manager of A. R. Guthrey Travel and Shipping, has been appointed a director of that company Winstone acquisition Winstone, Ltd, has issued 102,042 ordinary shares as part consideration for a minority interest in W. A. Herkt and' Sons, Ltd, an Auckland transport and building supplies firm. The balance of the consideration was in cash. No other details were given.

Mr W. T. Morriss, of Wellington, has accepted an invitation to join the board of Wattie Industries, Ltd.

He is also currently chairman of Standfast, Ltd, Precision Golf Forging (N.Z.), Ltd, and Allanbrook, Ltd, and a director of Revertex Industries, N.Z., Ltd. Mr W. A. Simpson has been appointed to the position of executive officer with the N.Z, Road Transport Association. He will also undertake responsibilities as secretary of a number of passenger transport organisations. including the Bus and Coach Association and the School Transport Contractors Association.

Two new directors have been appointed to the board of Gough, Gough and Hamer, Ltd, the New Zealand Caterpillar (earthmoving) and Hyster (materials handling) equipment dealer.

They are Mr B. T. Gough, currently sales promotion manager, and Mr H. D. Gough, who is the company’s project engineer.

Mr A. T. Gough has been appointed data processing manager of Gough, Gough and Hamer, Ltd.

Mr Gough was previously the company’s senior systems analyst.

Mr N. B. Darrow has been appointed general manager with over-all responsibility for the Plyco Products Division of the Fletcher Timber Company, Ltd.

Mr Darrow joins the Fletcher Group from Sime Darby Holdings, Ltd. where his most recent position was executive assistant to the chief executive, based in Singapore. Kiwi abandons U.K. The Kiwi International Company, Ltd, is to cease manufacturing shoe care products in Britain because of adverse political, economic, and industrial conditions. These operations will now be concentrated in France. Sales and distribution in the U.K. of the group’s products will be handled by Fook Brokers, Ltd, a grocery distributor.
