League prop available
The prospect that Canterbury would be without both of its firstchoice props, John Greengrass and Stewart Hogg, for the vital Rothmans Rugby league championship match against Auckland at Carlaw Park next month has been averted. Although Greengrass might be missing because of the New Zealand squad leaving the same day for the second round of the international series in England, France and Wales, Hogg has unselfishly made himself available for selection. The very consistent Hogg — who has made 13 consecutive appearances for the province since his debut last season — was faced with a clash of football commitments. His Sydenham club team will be away in Australia at the time of the Auckland game, but he has decided to withdraw from the trip and offer his services to the Canterbury selectors.
