School pupils chess contest
(N.Z. Press Association/ DUNEDIN. The two Auckland representatives, Kai Jensen and Robert Wansink, came first equal in the New Zealand school pupils chess championships which ended in Dunedin yesterday. They both won their lastround games to finish with six points from seven games. Each received $6O and can represent New Zealand in the Australian school pupils chess titles at Christmas. Wansink is unlikely to play, however, and this will allow Roger Nokes (Canterbury), who finished third, to take part. Final points.—Jensen, Wansink, 6; Nokes, 4J; D. Beach (Wellington), S. Cordue (Wellington), 4; T. Pool (Canterbury), 2); T. Love (Otago). L M. Freeman (Otago), 0. Round seven results:—Jensen beat Beach, Wansink beat Love, Pool beat Freeman, and Cordue beat Nokes.
