Boral profit rises
Boral, Ltd, increased audited group net trading profit 24 per cent to $A9m in the year to June 30. A final dividend of 12.5 per cent (6.25 c a share) is payable, making a steady 12.5 c a share for the year. Extraordinary items of profit amounted to $1,002,000 ($328,000 last year) mainly from the sale of land and buildings. Group revenue rose 10 per cent to $139.8m. The profit was after providing slm less for tax at $5.5m, but $689,000 more for depreciation at $6.3m. A surplus of $18.7m arising from revaluation of properties, and non-current assets was not brought to account in arriving at the net profit. C.U.B. profit up Carlton and United Breweries, Ltd, increased group net profit 4.7 per cent to $Al4.4m in the year to June 30. The profit was after tax of $11.4m (slo.Bm last year) and depreciation of $5.9m ($5.3m). A final dividend of 7c a share was recommended, making a steady, 12c a share for the year.
