Interrupted burglary
A man was disturbed trying to enter a house in McDougall Avenue, St Albans, at 4.25 a.m. on Thursday. He had put masking tape over the window and was going to smash the glass when he was disturbed. The man had also tried to gain entry to the house by a connecting garage, but had been unsuccessful. The police were unable to catch him. Cassettes and a player worth $l7O were taken from a flat in Durham Street some time on Wednesday. The burglar gained entry through a partly opened window. A radiogram, radio, clock, and clothing were taken from a flat in Colombo Street on Wednesday after the burglar had smashed a kitchen window.
