Live racing telecasts

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. Agreement has been reached between the New Zealand Racing Conference and TVI for the live telecasts of race meetings in New Zealand. At a meeting in Wellington between a subcommittee of the New Zealand Racing Conference and representatives of TVI, the fee per race day and final telecasts arrangements were confirmed.

The Auckland, Avondale, and Wellington racing clubs and Canterbury and Dunedin jockey clubs will each receive $l4OO a day and other clubs—perhaps

eight of them—will receiv* $750 a dayAccording to Mr Pat Donnelly, who advised members of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club at the club’s annual meeting on Monday of the new , scheme, there will also be | a $2OO minimum payment for feature races.

The two negotiating points were: the Racing Conference’s contention that TVI was riot offering enough money per day and the conference’s concern that colour telecasts of an important meeting or a race such as the Auckland Cup might affect the attendance at some smaller meetings.

The filming of the Avondale meeting last Saturday and two days at Riccarton earlier in the month was the result of TVl’s obligation to fulfil its August commitments.
