Sumner drainage
Sir, — Apart from some minor flooding in Summer during the recent heavy rains, it would appear that the district suffered very little in camparison with other districts in the city. I hope that the .people of Summer in their day-to-day living, spend a few silent moments giving thanks to the Christchurch Drainage Board for providing the stormwater relief drain which came into operation about February last year. Without this new drainage system, Sumner would continue to suffer from periodic flooding. The Sumner Residents’ Association also deserves thanks for negotiating with the Drainage Board over many years for this relief drain to be constructed. — Yours, etc., B. R. HANSEN. August 28, 1975.
