National netball

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Hawke’s Bay netball supporters for a few delirious moments thought that their first grade side had drawn with Auckland, the national tournament leader, at Onewa Domain yesterday, only to be disappointed.

The scores read 26-26 at the final whistle, but in fact Auckland had taken the match, 26-25, to maintain its

unbeaten record over three days of absorbing play. The Aucklanders enter the final two days with a handy lead of four points from Canterbury, North Shore, and Wellington. Dr A. B. H. Howes, who heads the tournament sports medicine clinic, reported that for the third day he had treated nearly 30 players, many of them with ankle injuries. Some of the injured people had worn shoes with soles which were far too smooth. Results: —
