Penalties reduced
Three boys jn the third' grade Kaiapoi B team of the North Canterbury Rugby competitions have had their penalties reduced after appeals by the Kaiapoi Club. Instead of being suspended’ for three days, which would; have included the first day) of next season, the three are! now suspended until September 30. The other penalties, one) on a fourth player and the other suspending the whole) team until September 30. i were upheld. As well, however, the letter formally conveying the! decision to the club will, now include censure of the team coach, Mr R. McNally,; for having instructed the team to leave the field after only 10 minutes had been played in the second half., and censure of the captain; for having followed these in-, structions in leading the team from the field.
The hearing concerned penalties imposed after four) Kaiapoi players were; ordered off and the sub- ( sequent walking-off by the' whole team during a match against Loburn-Kawai at: Sefton on August 9.
