Residents disturbed

Residents of Orrick. Crescent are up in arms about the heavy trucks travelling down their street. The trucks are used to carry filling for road construction at the end of Orrick Crescent. Residents claim that the high speed at which the trucks travel down the crescent endangers residents — especially small children. Another complaint the resi-| dents have is that the filling i brought in bv the trucks is spilling over on to the roads.

and footpaths . One of the residents. Mrs Washineton. told “The Press” that a few months aeo she telephoned the Ministry of Transport to have them remove the built-up dirt from the foo’nath in front of her house She said that thev removed five vards and a half from the footpath. Another resident said that she dare not open the windows in her house because a film of dust would cover her furniture and floor coverings The residents have formed a committee which has considered obstructing the trucks' joumev down the street. Other residents have

.sought legal advice, but they have been told that there is no legal solution to the problem. “Even having the traffic officers down here has done nothing to slow the trucks: down," a mother of three
