Wise Owl Club
Sir, — I congratulate Paul Lynch of Cashmere High School on becoming a member of the Wise Owl Club. May I, however, point out that Paul’s award is not a South Island first. In 1966, Ken Saunders, a Form 111 pupil at Ashburton College, was presented with this award when his goggles saved his eyesight from molten metal. The goggles and a copy of his certificate are part of a static safety display at Ashburton College. Ken is now a successful draughtsman with the Ashburton Electric Power Board. — Yours, etc., A. W.
