"Seven Days” team off to Africa

Television One’s “Seven Days” camera team 1 will leave New Zealand for Kenya on Sunday. After filming in Kenya, the team will visit Rhodesia, to film a programme on the nationalist movement there, and will also take a look at implications of apartheid and sport in South Africa. The “Seven Days” reporter lan Fraser will accompany the team which hopes to arrive in Kenya on Tuesday. Arrangements for visits to other African countries have not yet been finalised, but TVI is still hoping to be allowed to enter Uganda and interview controversial President Idi Amin.

It is also likely the “Seven Days” team will go to Tanzania and a possible interview could be of former

Dr Milton Obote, former President of Uganda. Reporters are likely to be sent to Africa on a roster basis and lan Fraser will be followed by Site Markham. Joe Cote will also join the team at some stage during its African visit. The head of information programmes (Des Monaghan) had hoped to accompany the team, but because the controller of programmes (Bill Munro) is on holiday, he has to remain at Avalon.
