Oils formulated for motor- cycles
The American oil company. PennxoiL has developed a range of lubricants specifically for motor-cycle engines and this is now readily available in New Zealand. The oils are all formulated from Pennsylvania stocks. They include Pennzoil injector oil, Pennzoil 50 to 1 two-stroke oil, Pennzoil four-stroke oil and Pennzoil special racing oil. The injector oil — the newest in the range—is a lubricant specially formulated for modem highperformance street and ! trail two-stroke motori cycles which are equipped ! with oil injection systems. ; It will flow freely, even in ; freezing conditions, and is ; designed to minimise ' smoke, carbon and varnish I deposits. The flash point is 1500 deg. Fahrenheit ; Pennzoil 50 to 1 motor i oil was developed because I of the leaner fuel-to-oil I mixtures recommended for I many modem engines. It ; is claimed to be par- ; ticularly efficient in rnini- • mising frictional wear — namely piston scuffing—and high temperature ; wear. Special additives reduce combustion chamber
deposits and spark plug' fouling. It will pour at 10 deg. I Fahrenheit and has a flash. point of 480 deg. Although 1 designed for lean mixtures,! it can be used perfectly; safely in engines which; use ratios down to 20 to 1.; The four-stroke motor-1 cycle oil has an excep-i tionally high viscosity | index and provides good; protection against piston; seizure and ring sticking.; It can be used in all < engines for which SAE! 20W, 20, 30, 40, 50, ] 20W-40 or 20W-50 oils are recommended. Pennzoil special racing I oil is designed for engines; which will be run under; stress. Extreme pressure, compounds have been; added to the base oil to; provide excellent load; carrying ability at the; cylinder wall, cam lobe and bearings. It maintains a free-flowing cushion under abnormal pressures and gives extra sealing ability at the rings to prevent cylinder wash. Nitro-methane will not mix with the racing oil and there it no thinning of tha oil film on cylinder and bearing surfaces tn engines using nitro fuel.
