Egypt not ready
(N Z Press Assn—Copyright) ALEXANDRIA. Aug. 27. Egypt was not ready to agree to a proposed peace treaty with Israel and had asked the American Secretary of State (Dr Henry Kissinger) to fly to Jerusalem for new negotiations with the Israelis, a Government spokesman said today. “When and if Dr Kissinger will bring back an affirmative reply — if that is done — then the road will be open to an agreement,” Mr Tahsin Bashir, press secretary to President Anwar Sadat, told reporters.
