France beats N.Z.
The French invitetion table tennis team beat New Zealand 91 at Cowles Stadium last night but the New Zealand players performed well.
The former national champion Ann Stonestreet (Auckland) won a match against Miss D. Sr.alka in straight games and the Xcxs Zealand players extended then opponents to the deciding gam> in tout other matches. In two of these matches only two point* separated them.
The French plaxers will com pete in the national champion ships which start today, and although there seems no doubt that the French champion on nine occasions. Jacques Score tin. will win the men's singles, [the womens events arc mote 'open after the confident show Ings by Miss Stonestreet and Jan Morris (Canterbury).
