Propertv worth more than | $2400 was taken in three! burglaries in Christchurch on Mondav night. Thieves entered a house in | Gresford Street, Richmond, through an insecure door and I escaped with stereo equip-1 ment valued at $ll6B. Three sets of four magne-> sium allov wheels complete with tyres were taken from the Rei'drubber Tyre Centre at 222 Durham Street after burglars smashed a skylight. The missing pronertv was valued at about $lOOO. A stereo set worth $300! I was stolen from the Canter- i burv Women’s Centre at 249 iKilmore Street; The thieves, '• pntered through an open window.
Volleyball.—China easily beat New Zealand in straight sets in the men's division of the Asian volleyball championships lat Monash sports stadium. Melbourne, on Mondav night. China won 15-8. 15-5, 15-8. In an exhibition game, the Australian women defeated New Zealand women 15-6. 15-6. 9-15. 15-7.
