N.Z. batsmen shine

(N.Z. Press Assn — Copyright} The New Zealand opening batsman, Glenn Turner, led Worcestershire to a record Sunday League score of 307 off 38 overs against Derbyshire at the week-end. He scored 86. Another New Zealand test player. Geoff Howarth hit Surrey to victory with 94.

Hot sunshine, true pitches, and fast outfields brought some big scores. Essex and Kent are the joint league leaders. Barry Dudleston (Leicestershire) hit a dazzling 152 against Lancashire — three short of the league record—before a brilliant catch on the long-leg boundary off what would have been a six and a new record ended his innings. But Dudleston did not save his side from defeat. Spearheaded by an unbeaten 105 from the West Indies captain, Clive Lloyd, Lancashire raced to 236 in 35 overs to win by six wickets. Results:—
