. GV.Z. Press .Association) DUNEDIN. A wrecking bar and ham'mer were needed to recover two rare examples of Hotere /’window" art for the (Hocken Library in the Otago i Museum. The librarian, Mr M. G. i Hitchings, removed two windows from a condemned ' house in Castle Street,! Dunedin, on which there! were drawings by the wellknown artist, Ralph Hotere. The house was previously] [the Francis Hodgkins! Fellows’ studio and the! drawings are assumed to date from around 1969,! when Hotere held the fel-j : lowship. One of the drawings is a: pencil sketch of a woman ini a window which had been! painted white to reduce the! light in the studio. The other lis an abstract oil painting on clear glass. Although only of nominal; monetary value, the win-; dows will form a valuable[ part of the library's extensive collection of working drawings and finished works] by Hotere.
