Values Party changes
Mr Tony Brunt has relinquished his two top-ranking posts in the Values Party. The former Values leadei announced to a week-end conference that he was stepping down as the party’s Wellington regional convenet and the region’s representative on the national executive.
He told the policy conference in Wellington that he was making the move to allow him to devote more time and energy to his duties on the Wellington City Council. Elected to the council on the Values ticket lasi October, he is a member of I its town planning and housing committees Mr Terry McDavitt was elected as the party’s new regional convenor. The regional conference, which discussed topics such as health, education and agriculture, drew 120 members and political candidates in this year's General Election from Wellington, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Palmerston ! North, Wairarapa and Wanganui. This area covers 18 electorates, of which the partv has already announced nine candidates. Values hopes to fill all 87 electorates for the election. So far, the party has selected 43 candidates.
