Helmets may be useless
Industrial safety helmets are softened and made ineffective b\ some paint and cleaning solvents, according to “Safety News." the quarterly newsletter for the National Safety Association. The association has drawn
attention to the possible harmful effects of paint, petrol. oil. solvents, and sunlight in amendments to New Zealand Standards 1585 and 2264, relating to medium and maximum-protection industrial safetv helmets. Helmets should be replaced after not more than three years use. the association says.
