New jackpot scheme
(“The Press” Special Service) WELLINGTON. ) A scheme for jackpot betting was considered by the quarterly meeting of the executive committee of the Racing Owners and Trainers Federation at Wellington yesterday. The chairman. Mr Jack i Pollock, said that a member, Mr Frank Wilson, of the ) Evergreen Stud, Matamata, had produced a noval scheme; for jackpots. : Mr Wilson’s scheme would use the ordinary machinery Available on course. The | system would be in five races. (A punter would take tickets lin the first jackpot race and lif he won would then exchange the ticket for a . quinella on races two and three. If again successful he would take another quinella . on races 4 and 5 thus com''pleting the jackpot. This : |would all be done on win ’and place machines. Mr Pollock said the scheme .had been forwarded to both conferences and the authoIrity and that as yet no-one ■to whom the scheme had I been shown could fault it. (The proposal was well sup- ) ported by the executive.
