Import duty lowered

WELLINGTON, June 24. Reduction in customs duty rates on a wide range of imported Australian goods from July 1 were announced today by the Minister of Customs (Mr Douglas).
j The goods affected include | baseball, softball, and cricket I bats; cricket pads; table tennis, billiard, pool, and I snooker balls; certain other equipment for gymnastics, athletics, sports and outdoor games; gramophone record covers; garden hoes and rakes; rock drilling bits; safety razors; sails and tents; cigarette lighters; vitreous enamelled sanitary ware; refrigerating compressors other than ammonia compressors; and wrist straps and bands for watches.
