Parliament’s Privileges Committee did not report back yesterday on its hearing of evidence from a Wellington night ■ club owner, Carmen, hut will Continue the matter next week. - Carmen, whose real name is Trevor Rupe, gave evidence on his own behalf regarding allegations that he breached privilege In implying that some
members of Parliament were homosexual or bisexual. Carmen was dressed In a three-quarter length black dress with sequins round the neckline, black stockings, and black-and-white shoes, when he arrived for the hearing in the executive committee chamber. Before entering the committee, he told reporters that he was nervous but
not unduly worried, as he had not named any members. Accompanied by his lawyer, Mr R. Stacey, he was escorted into the committee at 10.8 a.m., and was there about an hour. Television’s “News at Nine” reporter, Spencer Jolly, who had interviewed Carmen on the television programme, was also called to give 'evidence.
