BIG SEAS AT KAIKOURA
A high tide, with a heav.' southerly swell, caused slight trouble along the coastal section of State Highway I near Kaikoura yesterday. Along a six-miie stretch of the road, between Oaro and the Kahutara River, south of Kaikoura, and again at Rakautara, 14 miles north, waves broke over in many places, littering the road with rubble, driftwood, and kelp.
Ministry of Works staff were kept busy with graders keeping the highway open to traffic. There were only slight delays.
