More out of work
Z P A Reuter—(,trpy right f LONDON, June 19. More Britons are out of work this month than there were in any other June in the last 30 years, the Employment Department reports. The total number of unemployed in the United Kingdom is now 869,822 — an increase of 19,489 over the May figure and 310,609 more than in June of last year. Commentators say that there is now little possibility of the Govern-
ments preventing the number of unemployed reaching 1 million by next winter. Thousands more workers are on short time. Those out of work reppresent 3.7 per cent of the working population.
