War Memorial railings

Sir, — No railings in the Square, please. Probably the sudden change from an isolated (and unloved) monument to one that is full in the public eye takes some adjusting to. But let us give it time. If in five or ten years people still feel concern, then perhaps some change could be contemplated. In the meantime, some seats in the enclosure would help. But public monuments belong to the people and the soldiers themselves would be the last to worry if their monument was being sat upon — and made friendly — by the youth of today. — Yours, WAR-LOSS.
