NELSON FORM MIGHT BE GOOD GUIDE

Form at the recent Nelson meeting* should prove a valuable lead to prospects in the legs of the T.A.B. double at the Marlborough Trotting Club's winter meeting tomorrow.

Sidestep and Panther Lopez were both successful on the second day at Nelson and thej' should prove popular fancies in the Marlbor-

ough Winter Cup and the Meadowlands Stud Handicap respectively. Sidestep is a member of the Hinds team of Ted Lowe, who has enjoyed considerable success in the past month or so. He is a beau-tifully-bred four-year-old, being by Garrison Hanover from Corwar and he looks as though he will eventually develop useful form.

There was much merit in his winning run at Nelson, as he was headed early in the run home. Over the final stages he unwound a dogged run which carried him past Irish Rhythm in the last few metres and he won by half a length. Doctor Vos* again I Doctor Voss, destined lor' the United States, could hardly have been more impressive when he won twice at Nelson. This field (foes' not look to be much strong 1 er and he should be one of the better chances even though he will start from' 20m. Robra v, Ben Trovato, a good second to Cyclone Lad at Ra ngiora. Bronze Regal and fmasport are others capable of getting into the finish. Panther Lopez beat a fair field of three and four-year olds in convincing style on the second day of the Nel son meeting and he should I be untroubled to win again in the second leg He is rat | ing most generously a' present and looks capable of' fairly rapid promotion! through the cla-se> Iri.h Rhythm's two pai mgs at Nelson suggeste that she might win s<k»> - She could offer most opjH>tk»n U> Pantl ei I opex. npt ciallv as the straight :• as that at Richmond Park
