Report pinpoints submissions
The Select Committee on Women's Rights seems to have pinpointed several areas included in submissions by the National Council of Women, said Mis Grace Hollander, national president of N.C.W.. in Christchurch yesterday.

I legislation against disi crimination, she said. “They I have recognised that this is ;lthe first step that must be I taken." A small point but an important one was the suggestion that the Juries Act be revised, Mrs Hollander said. “At present, women do not have to give reasons for • opting out of jury duty, I whereas men do,” she said. | “There should be equal re- : sponsibility for jury service i as for anything else.” Mrs Hollander was I pleased that the committee ■had recognised the need for change in the education system to eliminate the stereo- - typing of sex roles. ! “There will have to be a lot of rewriting of educational books to eliminate it though,” she said. I The financial aspect was i also important and N.C.W. had been well aware of the difficulty encountered by ■ women seeking credit or I mortgages without visible 'male support. Mrs Hollander would not comment on the suggested wage for mothers as N.C.W. i delegates at their last natiional conference had been divided on this. Of what she had seen of Ithe report so far. Mrs Hol--1 lander said, there did not ■ seem to be many suggesl tions on how to eliminate I the traditional prejudices against women. “1 suppose that will come in time.” she said.
