Dicker Academic Registrar. 2098 UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO MEDICAL GRADUATE DEMONSTRATORS IN ANATOMY APPLICATIONS are invited for these posts for the period February 1-October 31, 1976. The salary is at the same annual rate as that for medical graduates in their third year in the hospital service (less the compensatory payment). The current figure is $6736 for nine months service. Anatomy demonstrators spend some 20 hours weekly assisting students with practical work in gross anatomy and conducting demonstration/tutorials in gross anatomy for medical and other classes but they are not normally required to give formal lectures. Demonstrators have benefited to the full from the excellent, course in basic medical sciences organised by the Dunedin Committee, R.A.C.S. and in 1973 and 1974 all completed the Part 1 F.R.A.C.S. examination at their first attempt in July. Recent demonstrators have emphasised that their teaching duties have a very positive effect on their own study of anatomy and that quite apart from their advantages in preparation for examinations, these posts provide an excellent opportunity to acquire, free from the distractions of clinical work, a real and personally satisfying knowledge of medical sciences basic to surgery.
