New Zealand Inflation 13.2 p.c.

The latest O.E.C.D. annual figures for annual inflation rates in member countries placed New Zealand eleventh among the 24 countries listed said the Minister of Finance (Mr Tizard) in answer to a Parliamentary question. The figures were for the year ended March, 1975. New Zealand’s inflation rate for the year was 13.2 per cent. Countries with a higher inflation rate were France (13.5) Denmark (13.4), Greece (14.2), Japan (14.2), Belgium (14.4), Australia (17.2) Spain (18), Finland (18.5) Italy (20.3), Britain (21.2) Ireland (23.8), Turkey (25.9), Iceland (53.8). Countries with a lower inflation rate for the year were Germany (5.9), Sweden (7.8), Switzerland (8.3), Austria (9.2) Portugal (9.7). United States (10.3), Netherlands (10.3). Luxemborg (10.5), Canada (11.3), Norway (11.8).
