A ‘SPECIAL OLYMPICS’

An estimated 1100 mentally retarded youngsters from across New York will compete in a state-wide “special Olympics” meeting at the New York State University today. Youths aged between 10 and 21 will take part in a wide range of events, including track and field, (gymnastics, bowling, basketball, volleyball, and swimming, They will compete according to age and skill levels. Those who excel at the Brockport meeting will compete in the international “special Olympics” in! August at Central Michigan University. Sponsoring the competition is the Joseph Kennedy jun. Foundation, which has been the moving force behind national and international “special Olympics” programmes for retarded youths !
