Boilermaker ruling delayed
fS.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 13. Any decision from the Min- ; ister of Labour (Mr Faulk-j ner) on allegations of tactics; used by boilermakers'
throughout the North Island has been delayed until next week. Mr Faulkner was expected to make a decision by noon today, but a report from the secretary of the Boilermak-| ers’ Federation (Mr C. Devitt). did not arrive in time. It is believed the union was asked to put in writing certain undertakings agreed to during talks with Mr Faulkner on Wednesday and yesterday. Mr Faulkner received the, rATWrt fKie aftornnnn
report tnis afternoon, ana said he would study it during the week-end. A decision is likely early next week. The meeting between the Minister. Mr Devitt. representatives of the Federation of Labour, and senior Labour Department officials came after complaints from employers that the union was telling them whom to hire and fire. Shipping movements at Auckland and Wellington will be subject to severe disruptions during the next fe« days because of a waterfront dispute which has closed the port of Wellington until Mondav and threatens tc close the Auckland Containei terminal next week.
