Ambulance drivers in ' Christchurch, like taxi--drivers, are known for their ! navigation and ability to find i the quickest route across the i city. These skills have been taxed occasionally when duty has taken them into remoter areas of the country such as ski-fields, but even then they regard their chances of becoming lost as slight. A report yesterday of the new ambulance for Malvern County, to be driven by local men who know the district well, said also that it “had not been uncommon” for Christchurch drivers to lose their wav getting to an accident in the country. It has happened, the Christchurch drivers say. but they reject the implication that it was more than a rare occurrence.
