W hat is the real value of Christchurch Citv? In terms of propertv. it is $1,737,853,000.
This is the value put on the city by the Valuation Department at July 1. 1974. The department yesterday' sent out valuations and notices to 29.000 of the 59 000 m-onertv owners in the citv. The other 30.000 rereived their notices late last year. The capital value of the C’tv determined after the valuation in November. 1969. was $6.31.7m. “I want to emphasise that the latest issue: of v a iue« is on the same basis as those issued earlier,! in July. 1974." said the manager of the department in Christchurch (Mr V. Some owners have been ' issued with notices showing special rateable values in addition to the normal values. These result from legislation in 1970 concerning single-unit properties and predominantly flat development areas, commercial uses |in residential zones, and the like Thirtv valuers have spent more than two years and a half working on the revaluation of Christchurch The department has now : started work on the Waimairi and Heathcote counties. ,
