Caretakers' pay move
Caretakers at secondary schools will become salaried officers of schools, if a remit passed by the southern region of the New Zealand Secondary School Board’s Association receives the sanction of the Department of Education.
The association’s branch meeting in Christchurch yesterday asked that a scale of salaries be instituted providing for degrees of responsibility, the size of the school, and other criteria. The conference was told that the present salary of a caretaker was low—sl.7o an hour.
