Most favour TV news at 7 p.m.
Overwhelming support for the main evening television news bulletin being screened at 7 p.m. was expressed in a listeners’ poll conducted by Christchurch community radio station 3ZB yesterday morning.
The station decided during the Ken Ellis programme to keep telephone lines open so .that people could call up .with their views. ; During the hour between 1 10 a.m. and II a.m.. 3.081 favoured television news at 7 p.m. Thirty-nine were in favour of 7.30 p.m. and only. 24 supported the present .Television One time of] 6.30 p.m. Expressed another wav,, 1 81 per cent of callers favoured 7 o'clock, 10 perl jcent 7.30 p.m. and 6 percent! ; 6.30 p.m. The remainder ofi I the 381 calls were not| I significant. ■ Mr David Mills, of 3Z8.1 I said most of the people who I (telephoned were women, but! ■about every 10th or 12th was 1 a man. He said as many calls as; possible were received, and; I there was no time for reasons for various time choices! |to be given. The station did not intend to send the information to! TVI. but had merely organised the poll because of the public discussion on the news bulletin time.
