Cricket awards disputed
An hour after the Winsor Cup was awarded to Gren Alabaster last evening, the award was discussed again by the New Zealand Cricket Council's board of control.
Alabaster and Glenn Turner (both Otago) had been awarded the Winsor and Redpaths Cups, respectively, for the best bowling and batting performances during the last first-class season.
Both plavers were key members of the Otago side which won the Plunket Shield. Turner scored 838 runs at an average of 59.9, and Alabaster took 34 wickets at a cost of 20.1. The original discussion on the awards was taken in committee. After the next business—the Indian itinerary for the tour of New Zealand next season—had been discussed. Mr C. F. Collins asked that ' the award of tire Winsor Cup be reconsidered. After a short discussion, the earlier decision was confirmed. INDIAN TOUR
The Indian team will play seven matches, including three tests, on a five-week tour of New Zealand next January and February. There will be three-day games agaihst Central Districts, Northern Districts and Otago, tests at Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington, and a one-day match against Wellington. India will tour New Zealand en route to the West Indies. Dates for the matches are: January 15. 16. 17: v. Central Districts. January 19: v. Wellington. January 7 24. 25, 26, 28, 29: V. New Zealand, at Auckland. January 31. February 1. 2: v. Otago. (February 5 6. 7. 8. 10: v. New Zealand, at Christchurch. FebIruarv 13, 14. 15, 17. 18: v. New I Zealand, at Wellington.
