MARCH WAS WARMER
Last month was warmer than in March, 1974. Night and day temperatures were above average by a little over a degree, according to meteorological observations made at Lincoln College. The highest maximum temperature was 28.2 C and the lowest minimum temperature was 1.6 C. The mean temperature for the month was 15.8 C.
Rainfall to date stands at 236 mm, the highest for many years, which together with high temperatures, low sunshine and lush growth, nroduced a month of high humidities and very low evanoration of 77.3 mm. Hours of sunshine totalled 139 and rainfall for the month was 72.1 mm. There was one dav of frost compared with two in March. 1974. Rainfall in March. 1974. totalled 53.4 mm and sunshine hours 143.9.
