I Many Chinese women I chew a tiny, perforated I paper stamp every day to | help to control their coun- | try’s birth rate, an American ;professor told a conference in York yesterday. Professor Car! Djerassi. of Stanford University, California, a former head of the I pill-manufacturer, Syntex, said that Chinese scientists had developed a type of l edible paper impregnated , with chemicals similar to those used in ordinary contraceptive pills. This was then perforated ■into 22 small stamps, one to Ibe taken each day, which had helped China to solve her birth-control problems.
