Big-building curb eased by Govt

Building controls are now confined to unduly luxurious dwellings throughout New Zealand and to major nonresidential construction projects in the Wellington area.; The Minister of Works (Mr{ Connelly) said today that: this resulted from a general; easing in demand on the building industry. "It represents a significant, relaxation of controls exer-j cised under the 1974 Economic Stabilisation Regulations. .“I urge anyone wishing to build a new home or garage, or to make additions to an existing house, in excess of the limits laid down by thej regulations, to apply to the: building projects authority ifj the proposal is reasonable,”! he said.
