Top league man to play in N.Z.
(N.Z. 'Pness Association) WELLINGTON.
Neil Fox, one of England Rugby League’s greatest postwar players, wil] play for the Marist club in Wellington for three months. The Marist coach and former New Zealand league hooker, Colin O’Neil, said he was delighted a player of Fox’s ability had accepted “an off season” offer to play in Wellington.
“Ln more than 600 games he has had a 70 per cent accuracy with his goal kicking which is quite fantastic. “My club badly lacks a kicker so from that point of view he is going to more than fill a gap,” Mr O’Neill said. AU Wellington league clubs will be offered tuition from Fox during his stay in the capital. Fox toured New Zealand and Australia in 1958 and had an outstanding season. He played 22 tests for England but injury prevented this tally from increasing. Fox, a player-coach with Hull Kingston Rovers, is the leading points scorer in British league this season.
