The profit was after pro-: viding $270,833- less for tax at $2,318,244. but $345,920 more for depreciation at $1,013,725. A final ordinary dividend of 10 per cent, making an unchanged total of 20 per cent for the year, is payable on May 6.

“The deterioration in economic conditions in Australia in the second half of 1974 particularly affected the profitability of the newspaper division of the company,” the directors said.

The radio broadcasting division earned a much higher profit in the second half of the year than in the first half.
