There yvas no intention to 1 set up a "private abortion clinic” in Christcuhrch; consideration had only been git'en to setting up a coun-l selling service in conjunction with existing facilities, a doctor said yesterday. He said there had been j some discussions by a small! group of Christchurch doctors) on the possibility of offering; a counselling service to) women considering abortion. I It was not intended to set ) up a clinic actually to per-j form abortions —these would 1 be referred to existing institutions such as Christchurch) Women’s Hospital or the) Auckland Medical Aid Centre j (Auckland abortion clinic).
