ANOTHER SET-BACK
Afakasi to wait again (A'.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Mr T. Cassidy, managertrainer of the Auckland boxer. Ali Afakasi, will seek to have the Australian, Hecto Thompson, stripped of his Commonwealth light-welter-weight title.
His action follows advice that Afakasi’s fight with Thompson in Melbourne on April 18. has been conceited. It is proposed to switch it to Brisbane on May 15'. “I am bitterly disappointed about this latest change.” Mr Cassidy said yesterday. “This is the fifth time we have tried to get Ali in the ring with Thompson, and I am going to write to the British Boxing Board of Control to have him stripped of his title. “Contracts were signed for the bout in Melbourne on April 18. and this new date and venue are unacceptable.
