Vauxhall Chevette

Vauxhall’s latest model, the Chevette, has been announced overseas. It is a 1256 c.c. three-door “hatchback” design with 58 b.h.p. (43.6 Kw) and shares some mechancial parts with one of the small Opel models. The car is the smallest in the Vauxhall range,

being 19.5 cm shorter than the Viva. The Chevette has rack and pinion steering, and coil-spring suspension on all wheels. Disc brakes are fitted to the front, wheels, and the brakes are servoassisted. Standard features on the Chevette include heated

rear window, a clock, reversing lights, and reclining front seats. The makers say that the car will accelerate to 60 m.p.h. in 15.25 sec, and has a top speed of 90 m.p.h., plus good fuel economy.' The Chevette will not go on sale until May.
