Wool Corporation display

: Woolgrowers will have . an opportunity on April 4 to assess the minimum or floor prices that will rule for their wool for the rest of the present selling season, and also; during next season. The Wool Marketing Corporation will stage a display I! of typical wools under the ! i grandstand of the Addington (Show Grounds, near the Wool Exchange, where the ! Christchurch w'ool sale will be held. Every sample of wool will 'have its type shown, the (yield of clean wool, and the

minimum price. There will be a corporation appraiser on hand to give explanations and to answer questions.

This is the first such display organised by the corporation. It has recently sent a schedule of about 300 types of wool with their minimum prices to all growers, and the display will illustrate this. The minimum or floor price is. in fact, a range of prices with an average of 93c a kilogram, says the corporation’s managing director (Mr H. L. M. Peirse). Wool mav sell at auction at prices below the minimum, but growers receive a supplement from the corporation to

bring their returns up to the minimum. This minimum will be held until at least the end of June, 1976, and so growers have a long-term interest in the minimum for their particular type of wool. Apart from helping a grower to work out the minimum value of his wool, the display will enable him to see the premiums and discounts which the minimum prices allow for style and for wool correctly or incorrectly prepared, and to calculate the difference between present auction prices and the relevant minimum prices. If a grower is selling at auction, this will tell him what supplement is due to him.
