Acton sent for trial

Graeme Acton, aged 41. a farm manager, was committed to the Supreme Court I for trial after the taking of ; depositions on 50 charges, before Mr K. H. J. Headifen.l ' S.M., in the Magistrate's l -Court yesterday. All charges except one — a theft charge — relate to l alleged false accounting when Acton was a director of Hirsch, Son and Rhodes (N.Z.), Ltd, between October, 1967 and September, 1974. Two of the 52 charges brought were dismissed by the Magistrate. Messrs G. S. Brockett and I H. J. B. Quigley appeared for the defendant and Messrs N. W. Williamson and G. K. Panckhurst for the Crown. The depositions took three days.
