Dr Sharp member of film appeal board
(N.Z. Press Asx<x*iation) I WELLINGTON. Dr R. A. Sharp has been appointed a member of the Cinematograph films Censorship Board of Appeal. Dr Sharp, aged 34, is senior lecturer in the department of political studies at Auckland University. In Christchurch
he was a foundation member of the Merely Players, and for many years he was active in the Canterbury Universits Drama Society. Announcing the new mem bership of the board the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr May) said that the chairman would be Mr A. J. L. Martin, who is chairman of the Social Security Appeal Authority, the Taxation Review Authority and the Chiropractic Board. He has long had a personal interest in the arts and theatre. The other member is Mrs M. R. Nolan, the mother of 10, who is a director of the Tourist Hotel Corporation and was a member of the Royal Commission on Liquor. Their terms will expire on February 1, 1978. Mr May paid tribute to the work of the former board members, Mr W. H. Carson (chairman), and Miss M. J. Clark and Mr W. N. Sheat.
